Monster Island, the Asylum’s mockbuster for 2019, was released just in time with Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film is about a mysterious island where a monstrous creature lives, and the creature is, in a sense, the island itself.


To keep costs down, the film only follows a handful of human characters and keeps its A-listers on one set so they can shoot all their sequences over lunch. We must not forget that this film is a kaiju film and it is (review) basically about how those things work. So maybe The Asylum won’t be too disappointed with it.
